Fund for the Arts raises $1 million through crowdfunding

Fund For the Arts Inc. announced Tuesday that it has raised more than $1 million though a Power2give online crowd-funding website. The site was launched in 2011, in partnership with the Arts & Science Council in Charlotte, N.C. The platform helps nonprofit organizations generate funding for arts and cultural projects. In less than two years, the tool has helped more than 100 organizations in Kentucky and Southern Indiana fund more than 330 projects, according to a news release. To aid the crowd-funding process, Fund for the Arts secured support from matching sponsors. More than $490,000 has been contributed by Power2give partners, matching online commitments dollar for dollar. Matching sponsors include the Kentucky Arts Council, Republic Bank & Trust Co., Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government, LG&E & KU Energy LLC, Chubb Charity Challenge, Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), United Parcel Service Inc. (NYSE: UPS), D.D. Williamson & Co.
