Wherever you and your phone go, you’re being tracked—and you seldom know exactly by whom. But you can regain a small degree of control over your privacy with OFF Pocket, a mobile phone pouch that blocks all cellular, Wi-Fi, and GPS signals, making your phone “untrackable, unhackable, and undistractible,” says project creator Adam Harvey. Why can’t I just turn off my phone, you ask? Because even when you power down your phone “some electronics may still be active, leaving your phone vulnerable to tracking. Plus power cycling your phone may take upwards of 30 seconds,” explains Harvey in the project video. OFF Pocket shields over 100dB of radio signals in the frequency range of 800MHz and 2.4GHz, as well as blocking CMDA/GSM/DCS/PHS/3G/4G, and Wi-Fi (2.4GHz), Bluetooth (2.4GHs), and GPS (1-2GHz).
